7/2/2007 FOR A PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE TUNNEL BETWEEN AMARA AND IBAETA

Kalapie wants to express his satisfaction before the agreement of the Advice of
Administration of EuskoTren, which approves to yield to the Town hall of
Donostia the ancient railroad Morlans tunnel to turn it in
a bidegorri that tunes in will Love and Ibaeta.

The fitting out of the tunnel and the corresponding connections with the network
of bidegorris he will help, undoubtedly, to promote the displacements
cyclists between areas as distant as Loiola and It will Love with Añorga,
campus of the UPV, or the Ancient one.

It worries us, nevertheless, that the achievement of this work not
contemplate the pedestrian transit, as it was foreseen in a beginning.
This fact reduces greatly the potentiality of social use of
similar investment.

Also, it seems open to criticism to us that this project does not include
achievement of an elevator that connects this tunnel with Aiete, as
he foresees the advance of the General Plan of Urban Arrangement. Of the above mentioned way
there would be extended greatly the radio of coverage of this one
infrastructure, giving service to a wide urban area that it presents
a difficult accessibility in bicycle. A later construction of
elevator would turn out to be more complicated and expensive, and would bear
interruption of the transit for the tunnel during the execution of
works.

On the other hand, we want to express our worry before
possibility of which this work budgeted apparently in 1,4 millions
of euros, it could absorb big part of the municipal budget
dedicated to the cycle mobility, when still the bidegorris network
it does not spread to certain quarters or comes from insufficient form
(Bidebieta, Altza, Intxaurrondo, Gros). To ours to understand these
performances turn out to be priority with regard to the Morlans tunnel.

We ask, then, this work to contemplate the pedestrian transit, as well as
the fitting out of an elevator that connects the tunnel with Aiete, and that
the investment of the work is not imputed exclusively to the budget
linked to the cycle mobility.
